Six Zero‑Day Patches Hit Windows – Patch Tuesday Demands Immediate Action
Microsoft’s February Patch Tuesday delivered more than 50 updates, including six critical zero‑day fixes. The new patches address CVE‑2026‑21510, CVE‑2026‑21513, and CVE‑2026‑21514, which affect the Windows Shell, MSHTML rendering engine, and Microsoft Word. Security researchers have confirmed active exploitation of these flaws in the wild, making them some of the most urgent vulnerabilities seen this year.
Defenders must prioritize rapid deployment of these updates across all Windows endpoints. Until the patches are applied, attackers can execute arbitrary code, steal credentials, or deploy ransomware via malicious documents and web content. Deploy the patches immediately, enforce strict application whitelisting, monitor for exploitation signatures associated with the CVEs, and consider temporary mitigations such as disabling the vulnerable components or applying Microsoft’s suggested configuration changes.
