Cloudflare Deploys Account Abuse Shield to Thwart Bot and Human Attacks
Cloudflare has rolled out a new service called Account Abuse Protection, which uses proprietary machine‑learning models to spot and block both automated bot traffic and coordinated human abuse targeting customer accounts. The system monitors login attempts, credential‑reuse patterns, and other account‑related behaviors in real time, automatically intervening when malicious activity is detected.
For defenders, the shield means a significant reduction in credential‑stuffing and account‑takeover noise, freeing up resources to focus on higher‑value threats. It also provides richer telemetry that can be integrated into existing SIEMs and XDR platforms, enabling earlier detection of abuse campaigns that may otherwise blend into legitimate traffic. Understanding how the model flags activity and staying aware of any evasion techniques will be essential for maintaining a robust defense posture.
